After you are through with the writing of a book, getting the book published is the next important part. If your work is good, it will not be difficult to find a publisher who will want to do the publishing for you. The difficult part really is writing a good book. There are however so many publishers and it would not be easy to find one specifically and getting a book published might not be that simple. It would be helpful if you created a book proposal where you have a detailed description of yourself, how your book can be marketed and maybe two sample chapters and the table of contents.

There are ways which one can get their book published. The first way which is the advisable method is to manuscript to publishers or agents without being too assertive and forceful because then they would take that as harassment from someone trying to give then an unwelcome or unasked for manuscript and they might not want to give you the opportunity to present your case to them if you do that. While you are at it, start working on your next book instead of concentrating on trying to get the one that's already written to be published.

Getting published requires that you be an exceptional writer. Publishers want good books and one way you can improve your writing is to join a writers group or online writers' workshops where you will be able to learn much more about writing styles and methods. Look for a group that suits your style of writing weather it is fiction or romance or thriller, or even fantasy. You will find that you improve vastly when you join such groups. You can also look for professional assessment before you submit your manuscript to publishers or first get an agent. Thousands upon thousands of manuscripts are sent to publishers every year and in the end, they publish just a few of these manuscripts.

Never send your original manuscript to a publisher and always do background checks on a publisher before you approach them. Most publishers who do not accept unsolicited manuscripts will either return your copy of manuscript or get a junior editor to read the first few pages and if you have a return postage, your manuscript will be returned to you but if you don't you will never hear from them again. If you have a story to tell and if the publisher's finds that they like your manuscript, then you will begin getting into the processes of agreeing about your compensation before you can get published.

However if you don't get to the stage of being published by the established method, you can always look at other methods for example self-publishing. After you have written a book, you can pay to have it published and in this case, it would be advisable to pay an editor to do a complete edit and to make an assessment on your book. Getting published this way has its advantages because it gives you a reputation as an author and you can decide if you want to continue this way or have a commercial publisher do your next book.
