Although "One Night in Bangkok" was on Murray Head's CD "Say it Ain't So", the song was originally created for the purpose of the 1984 musical titled "Chess". It was released all over the world including South Africa, Switzerland, plus even Australia and also it was at the top of the charts. In May of 1985, this valuable hit single took its place in the #3 spot on both the Canadian and also the American music charts. The song itself has influences of oriental tunes but it still doesn't fall within the realm of traditional Thai folk music. Although there are oriental influences within the song, the majority of the melodic value focuses on pop stylings.
