Some people play and play video games for years and look at this process just as a hobby but other people, besides the playing, think all the time how could they take a part in the process of making them. One job that supplements the process of making video games is testing them. The people who do this job are called testers and their job is to find bugs in games and report them to the people that program them. Game testers should have a general knowledge of computers, patience and good communication skills.

The same works for the hidden object games. They are based generally on point-and-click puzzles and they also have to be tested for quality assurance before they're released.

If you are a type of person that has thought about the idea of becoming game tester of hidden object games, here are some advices that should be taken into account.

If you do not have a suitable level of computer literacy, take a computer programming class. You could take part-time courses or night classes to learn how to troubleshoot any problems you may have during the installation of a game and how to upgrade computers, if it’s required. Thing is to study as much as you can, to be better from the competition.

If you become a game tester, writing a bug report will be your everyday job, so if you don’t have any experience in it, write a fake one, just to practice. Write down all the things that should not have happened while playing the game and the things that actually should have happened. Mark the steps that led to the bad result, so the programmers could repeat it while troubleshooting.

Next step is to find a company that produces hidden object games or tests ones, located in your area. Most practical way is to search for a one online or just see the company that produces your favorite games. Some of these companies could ask from you to work from your home, and in that case it’s not so much important if they are located in your country but probably you will be required to commute to the office if you get a full-time game testing job.

Even if there is no any advertisement about the job, send copies of your resume by email to companies you are interested in - companies receive many voluntary applications for game testers. Write about your interests in hidden object games playing and testing. Be detailed while doing that and if you don’t have any experience in testing, explain your wish in details, describing your point of view about the wanted job.

If you cannot get the wanted job directly from the publishers of the games, find IT-centered staffing agencies. They may not send you directly to a hidden object games job, but contacting them could definitely help you gain experience to get the position you want. Just be patient and persistent in searching and developing yourself, and the good outcome is inevitable.
