Everything a parent does is being watched and remembered by a children. One reason children don't always do as parents say, is because they do what parents do. Most parents know that their children are picking up bad things from them, but can't always stop it. It is a human thing, not a criticism, but children take on the traits of the parents, both good and bad. Good days and bad days are what life is, and so it is just a matter of how people deal with them. It is challenging to give children positive learning experiences on days that are not too good. We know it is the supreme effort to be conscious of our behavior when around our children, and all anyone can do is just do the best we can.

Raising children becomes magnified greatly for each additional child you have. One of the most difficult things in parenting, is to not show favoritism for any one child. Showing favoritism is not always easy to avoid, because people are human, and it normally takes work not to pick favorites among your children.

Maintaining a healthy perspective in all areas with your children is important, especially when it comes to favoritism. To make a child feel like he or she is unwanted, is just about the worst thing that any parent could do. When you are showing favoritism, you are doing damage to each child, even the favorite, so you should try to rectify the problem.

Another thing you need to know is that child's brain is wired to do different things; some will be good with math and others better with English. Your kids internal molecular structure plays a large role in whether or not they are academically oriented or choose a different direction. Some kids will have a strong desire to do things outside of school, whereas others will thrive doing schoolwork. Parents that actually know their children will have a better chance of helping them as they grow up. A great emphasis should be made upon your teenagers so that they are aware that completing high school is a very important step. If they need help with any subject, make sure that they realize you will help them by hiring a tutor if they need it.

When enforcing rules and policies in the home, most parents understand the importance of being consistent with their children. Since people are all different, coming up with the right standard to be consistent to, is sometimes a big problem and the children know how to use that. If one parent will give in, while the other one won't, then the easy one will be picked on by the children. Children need boundaries, but they will get discourage if the strict parent always get their way. If the rules were set where both parents agreed and the children knew what would happen if they disobeyed, there would be no reason to ever give-in.

The best parents are those who allow their children to find their own lives, and prepare them for it. People do what they like unless they have been forced into something else, and children are no different. Success is a lot of different things, but success as a parent is directing a child in the right path.
