According to some recent polls, there has been some enthusiasm by republican voters, which was very much needed, since the Governor from Texas, Rick Perry, entered the presidential race. These same Republican voters were, up until Perry joined the race, unhappy with their choices.
Rick Perry's decision to enter the presidential race immediately changed the dynamics of the race, and the polls have him charging to the top of the field. Gallup did their polling and determined that that Rick Perry's immediate increase in their poll was very much supported by a considerable lead with the Tea Party voters, who are self identified, where he holds a considerable lead over his opponents by as much as 20 points. According to Gallup, this might be critical as far as the capture of the undecided conservative voters, because 58% percent of the Republican leaning independent and the Republicans who identify themselves as being in support of the Tea Party movement.
A Gallup pollster wrote in an analysis that by extension, Rick Perry has almost instantly become the Republican nomination candidate that is preferred by those who see government power and spending as the most important issues that face the country today and by the supporters of the Tea Party movement.
A recent poll by the Associated Press GfK also determined that the candidacy of Rick Perry helped considerably in closing the indifferent gap in enthusiasm by the same group of Republican leaning and Republican voters. Nearly 67% of the voters are currently satisfied with their choices, compared to only 50% and a most now report that they have a considerable amount of interest in the presidential race.
Apparently, much of this is attributable to Rick Perry. The man who has been leading in the polls, Mitt Romney, hasn't seen his approval rating change from approximately two out of every three voters. However, only 12% of the voters viewed Rick Perry negatively compared to 33% last June while nearly 63% of Republicans currently view Rick Perry in a positive light.
However, those results may not translate the same way in a general election. Only 41% of those people who were surveyed were satisfied with the field of Republicans, and there were no candidates that were viewed favorably by most of the voters.
Still, there is no doubt that Rick Perry has given hope back to the Republican voters. Only the election in November will give them the final chapter of this continuing saga.
