Luxurious Italian fashion house Dolce & Gabbana was founded by the designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. The couple met while working together in Milan, and in 1985 were invited to present a "New Talent" show for the Milano Collezioni. The following year, they showed their first collection of women's ready-to-wear. A menswear collection and expansion of the brand soon followed.

Dolce & Gabbana are well-known for dressing stars, and are highly favored by such celebrities as Nicole Kidman, Demi Moore and Madonna -- in fact, they designed all of the costumes for Madonna's tour in 1993, the provocative Girle Show. Their eclectic and sexy style often has a focus on cutting clothing to show off a woman's assets, and giving the women they clothe a heightened sense of sensuality.

The Dolce & Gabbana brand is primarily composed of two lines, Dolce&Gabbana and D&G.

Dolce&Gabbana is a designer-influenced line with a focus on timeless style, rather than on ever-changing trends. The line includes eyewear, both corrective lenses and sunglasses; accessories such as purses and watches; and a make-up and fragrance line.

D&G is more casual and urban and has a strong focus on setting fashion trends. The D&G logo is iconic, and recognized worldwide. Although controversy has followed, particularly relating to some risqué and questionable ad campaigns, the company remains respected and successful.

Dolce & Gabbana run a series of boutiques around the world, from the United States to Australia, from Japan to Brazil. Additionally, high end department stores such as Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nieman Marcus, and Lord and Taylor often feature a Dolce & Gabbana kiosk.

The fragrance line offered by Dolce & Gabbana features a number of popular favorites, both for men and women. Some highlights of the women's collection include:

-- D&G Feminine, a gentle floral featuring notes of water lily and white cyclamen, along with a citrus tang provided by tangerine. The sultry tones of sandalwood and vanilla give the scent a hidden strength, allowing it to live up to its name.
-- Dolce & Gabbana, the eponymously named fragrance, blends spices with florals for an exotic scent still appropriate for daily wear. Basil melds perfectly with carnation and marigold, and brightness is provided by tangerine and orange flowers.
-- The One, an exciting and sensual fragrance, is a delightful and provocative combination of fruity and floral, with peach and lychee highlighting bergamot and jasmine.

The Dolce & Gabbana men's collection features masculine fragrances such as:

-- The One Gentlemen, a complex and sophisticated scent with a spicy top over a smooth vanilla and patchouli base.
-- D&G Masculine, casual and fresh, blending lemony citrus with cardamom and vetiver accents.
-- Dolce & Gabbana Cologne, rich and spicy tobacco blends with fragrant lemon and orange for a refined and tasteful scent, perfect at the office or on a night out.
